German LB Jannes Horn joins St. Louis City SC on loan

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis City SC announced Friday that left back Jannes Horn has joined the club on a loan deal that will last until June 2025 with the option to purchase him.

The club does have an option to buy him for an undisclosed fee and if they do, his contract will run until June 2026. City SC also have a club option to retain Horn for all of 2026 should they chose to buy him from 1. FC Nürnberg.

"Jannes versatility will be a good addition to the team," said Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel in a club release. "He is an aggressive left back who is good with the ball that is beneficial in the way we play. His ability to also play at center back makes him dynamic and provide flexibility to our backline."

During his time in Germany, Horn has appeared in matches in the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga since 2016. During his time in Germany, Horn has suited up for FC Koln, VfL Wolfburg, VfL Bochum and Hannover 96.

Last season, Horn played with 1. FC Nürnberg, who finished in the bottom half of the table in the 2. Bundesliga, appearing 29 matches in all competitions and playing 2,346 minutes.

To fit Horn on the roster, City SC also acquired an international roster spot from Philadelphia for $75,000 in general allocation money.
