ST. LOUIS – The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for the St. Louis metropolitan area through 4 a.m. Sunday.

The watch is primarily for Missouri and Illinois counties in the St. Louis region that are north of the Interstate 44 corridor. This does include St. Louis City and County.

During a tornado watch, atmospheric conditions are favorable for a tornado to develop, but a tornado has not yet been sighted or indicated by weather radar.

If a tornado warning is issued, a tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar and there is imminent danger to life and property. In that case, seek shelter immediately.
