St. Louis Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright stuns with National Anthem before opener

Adam Wainwright and his St. Louis Cardinals saw their Opening Day home game against the Toronto Blue Jays delayed a bit Thursday afternoon due to weather.

This didn’t stop the all-time great and future Hall of Famer from stirring up the crowd inside Busch Stadium, adding yet another element to the rich history of baseball in St. Louis.

Wainwright actually sang the national anthem before first pitch. Without getting into too much detail before sharing the video, it was an absolutely extraordinary rendition.

It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that Adam Wainwright can absolutely belt it. It was earlier in the year that the three-time All-Star and World Series champion did a 90-minute country set at a benefit concert in Illinois. Said performance included 17 original songs.

“I don’t get nervous pitching, but I get nervous doing things out of my element. And that’s a little outside of my element,” Adam Wainwright said after the benefit concert.

Despite being a bit nervous, Wainwright killed it on stage while strumming a Gibson J-45 guitar.

At 41 years old, Wainwright’s MLB career will soon come to an end. But it’s darn good he has another career waiting in the wings.

Just tremendous stuff.
