According to Saguache County Search and Rescue, an archery hunter required rescue after getting stabbed by one of his own arrows, thrusting him into a very scary situation. The hunter was injured while climbing over a downed tree in the northern end of the San Luis Valley near North Decker Creek of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains on September 7 at about 11:30 a.m.

SAGUACHE COUNTY — On Sept. 7, Saguache County Search and Rescue was notified of an injured archery hunter who needed medical assistance. The hunter had climbed over a downed tree, dislodging an arrow from his quiver and sustained serious injury. The hunter was in the northern end of the San Luis Valley in the vicinity of North Decker Creek in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

A missing woman has been found alive after she was last seen walking away from a cabin in Colorado. According to the Saguache County Sheriff's Office, 77-year-old Audrey Condit was reported missing after walking away from her cabin on the afternoon of September 3. The remote cabin was located in the Vulcan Mine area near Gunnison.

Earlier this week, Saguache County Search and Rescue entered the field to save a woman who got lost on a class three fourteener climb. The hiker contacted search and rescue during her descent of Kit Carson Peak on September 5. She had missed the narrow 'Avenue' portion of the route, which had her facing the unknown on a precarious part of the mountain.
