Sacramento pools open for summer with low price entry on first weekend

(FOX40.COM) — Sacramentans needing a way to cool down this summer will have another option starting this weekend with the opening of most neighborhood pools .

The city says 15 facilities are scheduled to open on June 15 with a special price of $1 entry on both Saturday and Sunday of opening weekend.

The regular price of the pools is $2 for youth and $4 for adults, with the North Natomas Aquatics Complex charging $6 for youth and $8 for adults.

A program with the Sacramento Public Library offers free swim passes and swim lessons to children who participate in Summer Reading . Instructions for this program can be found here.

The city also has information on scholarships that provide free aquatics programs to certain families.

A statement from the city said 11 pools with lifeguards will have swim lessons, teams, aquacise and lap swimming. Four wading pools for young children will also be open.
