Man arrested for fleeing police

Louisiana Tech Police arrested a Ruston man last week after he allegedly fled an attempt to stop him for a traffic violation.

On May 27, a Tech police officer learned a 2003 Buick LeSabre traveling on Tech Drive had no insurance when he checked the license plate. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle with lights and sirens, it turned west on Barnett Springs Avenue and continued without stopping. Ruston Police were notified of the slow speed pursuit.

The car turned onto Snowden Street and then pulled in front of a Turner Steet residence. The driver was taken into custody and asked why he did not stop. Marcus D. Turner, 38, said he was scared.

However, a records check showed Turner was wanted on three warrants for failure to appear in Ruston City Court. It was also found Turner had no driver’s license and did not possess insurance on the car.

A passenger said he attempted to get Turner to stop for the officers, but he would not.

Turner was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for resisting an officer, no driver’s license, no insurance, and the three warrants. Bail was set at $14,000.
