THE man accused of killing a 17-year-old reportedly confessed to cops that he strangled her and buried her body in a homemade box, court documents have revealed.

Valerie, who worked for Scott as an employee of his landscaping company, had not been seen since June 7.

On November 29, the Rush County Sheriff’s Department preliminarily charged Scott with murder after investigators found human remains on his property.

Those remains are believed to be those of 17-year-old Valerie, according to Rush County, Indiana Sheriff Allan Rice.

"This is not the outcome we had all hoped for, but I want to stress to the public that this case is far from over," Rice said at a Wednesday press conference.

"Justice will be sought."

Now, court documents obtained by local Fox affiliate WXIN have revealed more about investigators' gruesome discovery.

During their search on November 28 - prior to Scott being taken into custody - authorities found two homemade boxes buried at his property.

One officer saw human remains in one of the boxes and immediately saw orange nail polish on the hands, according to the court documents.

The nail color matched the hue Valerie had on her nails in a photo posted to social media on June 7 - the day she was last seen alive.

A second box found buried at the property contained VHS tapes and paperwork, the documents stated.

'HELD ONTO IT UNTIL SHE QUIT'

Scott was taken for questioning after the discovery.

While in custody, he reportedly admitted to killing the teen.

He told police he strangled Valerie with a belt that he continued to wear afterward.

“I put it around her neck and I held onto it until she quit,” Scott allegedly told police, per the court documents.

Investigators later found records from June 8 of Scott purchasing materials, including 2x4s and oriented strand boards, to construct the boxes.

Scott reportedly told police he bought the boards to make the box for Valerie's body.

Before he built the box, the teen's body was in his office, according to court documents.

The alleged killer told cops that he wrapped the body in plastic, put it in the first box, and screwed it shut before putting it in a hole and covering it up.

He also said he used the second box to "put s*** in" and added that to the hole in July.

SILVER ALERT

Valerie reportedly told her parents she was going to work for Scott on June 7.

Cell phone records indicated that her last known location was not far from Scott's home, according to WXIN.

Indiana State Police issued a Silver Alert for Valerie on June 10.

Scott reportedly gave police inconsistent stories about the last time he saw Valerie alive.

He also reportedly offered Valerie's parents support in the days following her disappearance.

Investigators searched Scott's property on October 11 and used cadaver dogs, which indicated that a body was somewhere on the property.

Police conducted a flyover of Scott's property on October 12 and noted “multiple areas of obvious ground disturbance," according to WXIN.

Search warrants for Scott's property were then requested on November 27, leading to the gruesome discovery on November 28.

'JUST KIND OF HAPPENED'

In an interview, Scott told cops that his wife and daughter “don’t know nothing” about Valerie's murder.

He told police that he and Valerie had shopped and gone out to eat together outside of their working relationship.

He claimed that he didn't plan to kill the teen and insisted that it “just kind of happened."

Valerie met Scott across from Shelbyville High School on June 7, he told police.

Court documents stated that Scott drove Valerie back to his house which neighbored the teen's.

The documents also claimed that Scott thought Valerie was going to try to seduce him or blackmail him.

He claimed Valerie was "coming on to him" and was trying to convince him to buy her a car, local NBC affiliate WTHR reported in their coverage of the court documents.

Scott then claimed that Valerie "got carried away" and began taking her clothes off.

That's when Scott used his belt to strangle the teen.

When asked if he was bothered that he killed the teen, Scott reportedly answered: “Well, I wasn’t too crazy about it.”

Scott appeared in Rush County Circuit Court on Thursday.

He has also been charged with obstruction of justice and false informing.

Scott remains behind bars without bond.
