A man is dead after a motorcycle crash Friday night.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident that happened at SE 112th Street and SE 32nd Avenue in Runnells just before 9 p.m.
Deputies say a witness saw light in the ditch and found an unresponsive man and a motorcycle.
Emergency crews administered life support, but the man died at the scene.
His name has not yet been released.
According to the latest data from the Iowa Department of Transportation, 127 people have died so far this year on Iowa roads. That's 3 more than at the same point in 2022. Over the last five years, an average of 338 people have been killed in crashes each year, the DOT says.
