    This Week in Eddy County Sports: High school teams prepare for state tournaments

    The regular season for spring sports teams around Eddy County wraps up this week with the state playoffs around the corner.

    Carlsbad baseball team seeks sweep to clinch district

    At 5 p.m. Thursday at Carlsbad High School, the Cavemen host the Hobbs Eagles in a single game.

    The Cavemen thwarted the Roswell Coyotes last week and have a one-game lead on the Eagles in the District 5-4A standings.

    At 4:30 p.m. Friday in Hobbs, Carlsbad wraps up the regular season with a doubleheader against the Eagles.

    Cavegirls wrap up season with district title in mind

    At 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Roswell, the Cavegirls face Roswell High School in a doubleheader.

    At 4:30 p.m. Friday at Carlsbad High School, the Cavegirls wrap up the regular season against Hobbs.

    The Cavegirls and Hobbs are tied for first in the league standings.

    Carlsbad High golf wraps up regular season on road

    At 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Lovington Country Club, Carlsbad participates in the Black/Murphy Invitational.

    At 9 a.m. Thursday at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, Carlsbad ends the regular season at the Colt Classic.

    Carlsbad tennis back in action after break

    At 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hobbs, the Carlsbad High School tennis teams face the Eagles in the regular season finale.

    Carlsbad track and field teams end season in Lovington

    At 3 p.m. Friday in Lovington, the track and field teams participate in the Ross Black Relays. The District 5-4A meet is set for next week in Roswell.

    Loving baseball looks for district sweep

    At 3 p.m. Tuesday in Elida, the Falcons face the Tigers in a doubleheader.

    The Falcons swept the Jal Panthers last weekend in the home finale. Loving is undefeated in District 2-4A.

    At 1 p.m. Saturday in Eunice, the Falcons wrap up the regular season against the Cardinals.

    Loving softball seeks continued dominance of district

    At 3 p.m. Tuesday in Dora, Loving travels for a doubleheader against the Coyotes.

    Heading into the game, Loving is 9-0 in District 2-4A action.

    At 1 p.m. Saturday at Loving, the home portion of the regular season ends with a doubleheader against Jal.

    Loving track and field travel for district meet

    At 3 p.m. Friday at Hagerman, the track and field teams participate in the District 2-4A meet.

    The small school state track meet is slated for next weekend in Albuquerque.

    Artesia baseball seeks sweep of Goddard for league title

    At 5 p.m. Thursday in Artesia, the Bulldogs host the Rockets in a single game.

    The Bulldogs and Rockets are tied for first with undefeated records in District 4-4A.

    At 5 p.m. Friday in Roswell, the Bulldogs and Rockets face off in a doubleheader.

    Artesia softball prepares for revenge against Lovington

    At 5 p.m. Tuesday in Lovington, Artesia faces a team that swept them in a doubleheader on April 19.

    Lovington is 6-0 in District 4-4A and Artesia is in second at 4-2.

    At 5 p.m. Friday in Artesia, the regular season comes to an end with a home doubleheader against Portales.

    Artesia track and field heads north to end season

    At 10 a.m. Saturday in Los Alamos, the track and field teams participate in the Larry Baca Invitational.

    Artesia golf teams wrap up regular season this week

    At 9 a.m. Tuesday in Lovington, Artesia’s linksters play in the Black/Murphy Invitational.

    At 9 a.m. Thursday in Roswell, the regular season wraps up with the Colt Invitational.
