ROSWELL, Ga. — The Roswell Police Department had a hilarious response to a number of bear sightings people have been reporting on Nextdoor.

Channel 2 Action News viewers have shared pictures and video fo the bear, who seems to be making Roswell home for the summer.

Roswell police said on Facebook that they are aware of the bear.
“Ahhh yes, it’s that fleeting, magical time of year when 97% of the posts on Nextdoor change from ‘What kind of snake is this?’ to ‘DID YOU SEE THE BEAR?!’” police wrote. “We have seen the bear. He is cute and friend-shaped, but he is not friend.”

Police said they don’t plan to forcibly remove the bear unless he becomes a safety issue.
“If YOU see the bear, give him space and let him go on his beary way,” police said.
Police listed six pieces of advice to avoid visits from a curious bear:
1) Never feed or approach bears
2) Secure food, garbage, and recycling
3) Remove bird feeders when bears are active
4) Never leave pet food outdoors
5) Clean and store grills/smokers
6) Alert neighbors to bear activity
