The North Carolina State Highway Patrol has released the identity of the dump truck driver who was killed in a single-vehicle crash on April 22 in Rosman.

Sgt. Jim Contas told the Times-News on April 24 that the woman has been identified as Carolyn McCall Lund, 63, of Transylvania County. He said the call about the accident came in at 12:37 p.m. April 22, and that the accident happened on U.S. 64 West in Rosman near Silversteen Road.

"It was a dump truck of some sort. She ran off the road to the right and struck a tree," Contas said.

Contas said troopers don't believe speed was a factor, and he said troopers weren't sure yet whether or not Lund was wearing a seat belt.

"Obviously, the cause of death is still under investigation. The medical examiner is still trying to figure out if this was medically-related or if she did die from injuries sustained in the crash," he said.

Moody Connolly, 181 S. Caldwell St., Brevard, is handling the funeral arrangements. According to its website, a celebration of life service will be held for Lund at 1 p.m. May 4 at the funeral home.

This story will be updated.
