Officials said one person was inside the O'Brien Architect Building on 5th Street near downtown Roscommon when the fire started at around 1 a.m.
The person was not injured.
It took five departments and more than 30 firefighters to put out the flames.
"We had to have an excavator come in and start knocking the walls down to help us get to the interior of the fire because we were having a hard time with the brick walls," said Higgins Township Fire Chief Tim Mepham.

Chief Mepham said the fire started on the back porch.
