In a game with only seven total hits, Rome Free Academy broke a late tie in a 5-4 win at Baldwinsville in non-league baseball on Saturday. With the game tied going into the top of the seventh, Nate Van Wie walked and gave way to pinch runner Anthony Vescio. Adirondack held off a late rally by host Westmoreland for an 8-5 win on Monday in a Center State Conference crossover baseball game. Carmen Orton had a career game with nine goals and eight assists for the Rome Free Academy boys lacrosse team in a 21-4 win against visiting Vernon-Verona-Sherrill on Tuesday. Logan Waterman had a hat trick with four assists in the Tri-Valley League win. Orlando Pimentel scored twice and had three assists. Elijah Lowder, Jaiden Holmes and Colin Baldyga also scored twice each. Derek Roberts added a goal.

ROME — The Camden baseball team was opportunistic. The Blue Devils took advantage of two Rome Free Academy fielding miscues in the first inning and another in the fourth inning and also got solid pitching in Monday’s early-season Tri-Valley League contest against the Black Knights.

Eddie Wright threw a one-hit complete game shutout for Oriskany baseball against host Poland in a 9-0 win on Tuesday in the Center State Conference. Wright did not issue a walk and struck out 13 in the win. He also helped at the plate with a single and double, three RBIs and two runs scored.
