Rome Police Investigating Incidents of Gunfire in East Rome Monday Morning

Rome Police are investigating two incidents of gunfire in East Rome early Monday morning.

According to Rome Police Department reports:  A house on East 19th Street was shot multiple times while a family was asleep inside.  Several holes were located in the walls of the residence, with one bullet being located inside a dresser drawer in the bedroom.  12 shell casings from a rifle were found up the street.

Another home on East 16th Street was also shot – breaking out a number of windows.  Once again, a family was inside asleep at the time.  16 spent rifle shell casings were collected along with four .380 shell casings. One shell casing was also recovered at the intersection of East 16th and Spring Creek Street.  Luckily no one was injured.

These are the latest shooting incidents that have been reported over the last few weeks.  On May 20th, a vehicle was damaged by gunfire at East 16th and Spring Creek Street.

That same day, a ‘shots fired’ call came in on Forsyth Street in North Rome, but nothing was struck by the gunfire.  On May 26, the front door of a house on Hardy Avenue in South Rome was shot, shattering the glass on the screen door.
