Ready, Set, Supply program helping SPS families start the new school year
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) — A program within Springfield Public Schools is helping families prepare for the 2024-2025 school year. Ready, Set, Supply is a program to ensure kids have the supplies needed to start the year right. The annual campaign collects donations of pencils, paper, and other essential items. Anyone can donate supplies directly to SPS or make a financial contribution. The program goes hand in hand with the district’s Back-to-School-Bash, which provides kids with needed items like backpacks and hygiene kits.
Springfield commission looks at new tax to replace expiring pension tax
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Voters in Springfield could be asked to approve a new sales tax this November. The proposed tax would replace one that’s currently on the books. Right now, a three-quarter cent sales tax funds the police and fire pension fund. This tax expires at the end of March 2025.
