ROCKVILLE, Md. (WFXR) — Liberty golfer and Jefferson Forest graduate Isaac Simmons will be competing among the best in the world at the 123rd United States Open Championship next week.

Simmons qualified for the U.S. Open at the Woodmont County Club in Rockville, Maryland, shooting two rounds of 69 and totaling a 36-hole score of 138, which included ten birdies. The Flames junior locked up one of four open spots in the 60-player field.

The achievement has Simmons’ home club of Mariners Landing in Huddleston, Va. celebrating.

“It’s an honor to represent Mariners Landing and Liberty University in the 123rd United States Open Championship,” Simmons said in a press release. “The community support has been overwhelming. I am also happy to announce my return to the Liberty Golf Team for my final season in 2023-24.”

The U.S. Open will take place from June 15-18 at Los Angeles County Club.
