ROCKTON — Senior Drake Broege did what he does best Tuesday, crushing a long drive over the center field fence for a three-run homer on his way to a four-RBI day in a 12-2 non-conference victory over visiting Beloit Memorial at Weber Field.

The Indians improved to 12-4 overall.

Broege gave Hononegah a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single, but Beloit tied it in the second when Brooks Mitchell doubled with one out and Dustin Foss knocked him in with a single.

Zander Koch came on in relief of starter Alexander Skrade and got out a bases-loaded jam with a strikeout.

The Indians answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by Broege’s blast. Logan Edward led off with a walk and Cameron Nelson singled. Bryce Ewing grounded into a fielder’s choice at third. Landen Seymour reached on an error, loading the bases and Austin Dresser’s fly ball to right was dropped, allowing a run to score.

Nick Santis grounded out to the third baseman, with another run scoring to make it 3-1 and Broege’s bomb pushed the lead to 6-1.

Hononegah scored three more runs in the third inning, two in the fourth and a single run in the fifth to end the game by the mercy rule. The Knights’ Ruddy Ramirez knocked in a run in the top of the fifth.

Broege, Seymour, Evan Sayles and Edward each had two hits to lead Hononegah’s 12-hit attack. Broege’s homer was the only extra-base hit.

Hononegah used four pitchers. Skrade went 1 1-3 innings, allowing two hits and a run. Koch pitched 1 2-3 of hitless and scoreless baseball, striking out two. Dresser pitched a scoreless inning and Nelson pitched the final inning, allowing two hits and a run.
