Rockford man sentenced for 2018 murder of Jamie Stephens

A Rockford man will spend 60 years in prison for the 2018 murder of Jamie Stephens.

Nickles Parks, 31, was sentenced on first-degree murder charges and concealment of a homicidal death, according to the state's attorney's office.

On Dec. 9, 2018, Jamie Stephens was reported missing. Stephens' body was found off the roadway in a line of trees in the 9200 block of Knapp Road in rural Winnebago County on Dec. 10.

Authorities said it appeared that Stephens’ body had been dumped there intentionally. Parks’ indictment shows investigators believe Parks shot Stephens ten times on Dec. 7 and then dumped his body.

Joshua Whittie and  Amber N. Brewer, of Janesville, Wis., were also charged in Stephens' death.
