FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The City of Fairmont has officially broken ground on a multi-million-dollar stormwater infrastructure project that is fully funded through state grants. Fairmont City Manager Travis Blosser announced on WAJR’s Talk of the Town that the first phase of the approximately $17.4 million Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) Stormwater project has broken ground near Morgantown Avenue as part of an effort to replace stormwater piping that hasn’t been addressed in decades. The project will be paid for through the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s Abandoned Mine Lands Program after coordination with town officials after the devastating Father’s Day floods back in 2025.
