Webster, N.Y. — A pediatrician in Upstate New York has agreed to give up being a doctor after admitting he inappropriately touched a child, troopers said.
Dr. Adam J. Weis pleaded guilty last week to endangering the welfare of a child — acknowledging he had “inappropriate contact” with a 9 year old last fall inside his Rochester-area home, the New York State Police said. During his hearing, the 37-year-old doctor agreed to forfeit his medical license, troopers said.
At the time of the incident, Weis worked at the Wolcott Medical Center in Wayne County. The crime did not involve a patient, police said, and happened at the doctor’s home in Webster.
State police started investigating Weis in December. No further details about what happened have been released.
Weis had worked at Wolcott Medical Center since December 2016, according to his LinkedIn page. He earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, according to his LinkedIn.
For pleading guilty to touching the 9-year-old girl, Weis is set to serve three years on probation, WROC reported. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 11 in Webster Town Court.
Troopers asked anyone with information about the case to call (585) 398-4100.
