2 vacant buildings suffer heavy damage after 2nd alarm Hudson Ave. fire

(Daniel Finkelstein / News 8 WROC)

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Two vacant buildings suffered heavy damage after a second-alarm fire on Hudson Avenue Saturday afternoon.

Executive Deputy Chief of the Rochester Fire Department James Hartman says the first building caught on fire, and due to the three-foot gap between the two structures, the second building caught on fire before crews arrived on scene. He adds this was what deemed fire crews to call a second alarm.

Executive Chief Hartman says both buildings were boarded up prior to the fire, and have been re-boarded up following the fire.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to RFD.
