Rochester, N.Y. — Local communities are hosting a variety of Memorial Day parade, ceremonies and other events this holiday weekend. Below is a partial list.
Saturday, May 27
Brockport: A remembrance ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Brockport Area Veterans Club on West Avenue, followed by a chicken barbecue.
East Rochester: A parade is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. starting at Debbie Supply on West Commercial Street and ending with a ceremony at the gazebo at Edmund Lyon Park on Main Street.
Sunday, May 28
Irondequoit: A parade starts at 3 p.m., running from Cooper Road and Titus Avenue to the Irondequoit Town Hall.
Monday, May 29
Brighton: A ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial at Buckland Park.
Chili: A parade starts at 8:30 a.m. at Aldi Plaza down Chili Avenue to the Community Center.
Fairport: A parade starts at Fairport Baptist Home at 10 a.m., proceeding to Potter Park for a remembrance ceremony.
Gates: A ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. at Gates Town Hall.
Greece: A parade starts at 11 a.m., marching down Long Pond Road from Janes Road to the Greece Town Hall, followed by a remembrance ceremony at the Greece Town Hall Pavilion.
Hilton: A parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at East Avenue and Canning Street, heading west down Main Street and West Avenue, ending at the Village Community Center gazebo with an 11 a.m. ceremony.
Irondequoit: A memorial service is scheduled for 9 a.m. at Irondequoit Cemetery on Culver Road.
Penfield: A remembrance ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the Penfield Amphitheater at Veterans Memorial Park.
Pittsford: A parade is scheduled for 10 a.m., starting at Pittsford Sutherland High School, marching down Jefferson Road to Main Street and ending at the Pittsford Cemetery with a remembrance ceremony.
Rochester: The city's Memorial Day parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at East Avenue and Alexander Street, heading west on Main Street and ending at Fitzhugh Street.
Spencerport: A parade starts at 9 a.m. across from the village offices and continues down Union Street to Memorial Park.
Victor: A parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at the Victor Education Center Parking lot, proceeding down High Street to Main Street and ending with a ceremony at the Village Hall parking lot.
Webster: A parade is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., starting at Spry Middle School, down South Avenue and Main Street before ending with a 10 a.m. remembrance ceremony at Webster Rural Cemetery on Ridge Road.
West Bloomfield: A parade is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at the corner of Route 65 and Quaker Meeting House Road, proceeding to North Bloomfield Cemetery for a military salute and ceremony.
