Off-duty firefighters save hockey player after cardiac arrest
Two off-duty firefighters saved another player after he went into cardiac arrest during a hockey game. Plympton and Duxbury Firefighter Scott Hill and Braintree Firefighter Brian Oriola were both playing an amateur hockey game at Hobomock Arena in Pembroke when one of the players had a cardiac arrest, the Plympton Fire Department wrote on Faceobok. They both quickly recognized the emergency and began CPR. Another player grabbed an AED.
Weather alert for heavy rain in Bristol and Plymouth counties Thursday morning
The National Weather Service issued a report at 5:35 a.m. on Thursday for heavy rain until 7 a.m. for Bristol and Plymouth counties. "At 5:30 a.m., Doppler radar tracked an area of heavy downpours from Killingly CT to East Greenwich to Mattapoisett, moving slowly to the northwest," states the weather service. "Minor nuisance flooding of typically flood prone areas. Difficult travel during the Thursday morning commute, especially in Providence, Fall River and New Bedford."

A coastal storm is making for a wet day today. Expect periods of heavy rain and localized flooding on the roads and in area rivers and streams that are quick to reach their banks. Temperatures will hold in the upper-50s to 60 through the day. Tonight the rain will taper off and the clouds will begin to break near dawn Friday. We are looking at a dry Friday with a mix of sun and clouds and much warmer temperatures topping out near 70. The weekend is setting up to be mainly cloudy with slight chances for showers. As we turn the corner into next week, we are looking mostly sunny and warm with highs in the 70s from Monday through midweek.
