Construction worker killed by vehicle; driver's responsibility unclear

A 61-year-old construction worker identified as Rafael Cortez Rioz died after being struck by a car on Tuesday afternoon, August 27. The incident happened around 1:00 p.m. in the 1600 block of W. FM 917, where the worker managed traffic. He was transported to a Fort Worth hospital but later died from his injuries.

He resided at 8481 Private Road 2406, Quinlan, Texas75474 The driver that hit him was 76 years old.

The investigation is still pending, It is unclear whether the driver is facing any charges.

Lanes of FM 917 were closed while casualty investigations worked the location.
