ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Are you thinking of your next family outing? Well, the Southwest Virginia Ballet is performing the classic fairy tale story of Cinderella on Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2.

This year marks the 32nd season that Southwest Virginia Ballet has been bringing the art of dance to the Roanoke Valley. SVB Artistic Director, Pedro Szalay created original choreography for the dancers to be performed to music by famed composer Sergei Prokofiev.

With sets and costumes, the ballet, which features 40 dancers, will dance the classic tale of a poor servant girl who has been whisked away to a ball with the help of her fairy godmother.

Tickets are on sale for the performance at the Berglund Center for $20, $32, $49, and $59. Parking passes are on sale for $5.

There will also be “Cinderella storytimes” happening this week in Roanoke before the opening show with the Southwest Virginia Ballet. They will be reading at the following places this week:

    • Tuesday, March 28 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Raleigh Court Branch Library
    • Thursday, March 30 at 11 a.m.
