The Riviera Beach Police Department has a new Deputy Police Chief.
Chief Michael Coleman announced on Thursday that Kevin Coppin will serve the role.
Coppin has 35 years of experience in law enforcement, according to a news release sent out by the department.
“We are elated to have Mr. Coppin join our agency,” said Police Chief Michael Coleman. “Not only does he possess the experience and leadership qualities that are valuable to Riviera Beach, but he is truly passionate about the safety of the people in our city.”
According to the release, Coppin served as the Coordinator with the Crime Gun Intelligence Center for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Detective for the Juno Beach Police Department, Officer and Reserve Officer for the North Palm Police Department, and Officer for the Palm Beach Shores Police Department. He also rose in the ranks at the Wes Palm Beach Police Department, eventually becoming Captain.
“I’m looking forward to officially starting and doing the best job I can do for Riviera Beach,” said Kevin Coppin. “I previously lived in Riviera Beach and I’m invested and connected to the City.”
Kevin Coppin starts the job on Monday, June 12.
