Former Twisp Mayor Soo Ing-Moody to seek seat in state Legislature
Former Twisp Mayor Soo Ing-Moody announced this week that she will seek election to the Position 1 seat representing the state’s 7th Legislative District. Ing-Moody said in a press release that she will file next week to run for the position being vacated by Rep. Jaquelin Maycumer, who is not seeking re-election and instead intends to run for the 5th Congressional District seat being vacated by Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers.

Free spay/neuter clinic comes to Agriplex May 6-9
BREWSTER – For about two-and-a-half years now, Brewster resident Mike Ostrom has waged a one-man campaign to capture homeless cats in and around the city so they can be spayed or neutered, receive vaccinations and medical attention before being returned to their point of capture. As of this writing Ostrom has succeeded in rounding up 177 felines, 72 of those within the city limits. What Ostrom is doing for Brewster is scheduled to happen countywide – for four days anyway – at the Okanogan fairgrounds.

Quincy FFA kicked off its annual plant sale on Thursday, April 25, in the FFA greenhouse behind Quincy High School. Community members lined up to purchase bedding plants and vegetable starts grown by Quincy FFA students in their horticulture class. Proceeds from the plant sale supported FFA members on their trip to the state convention and other chapter activities throughout the year.

Repair Café helps keep fixable items out of landfill
TONASKET – Green Okanogan (GO) brought the “Repair Café” to the Community Culture Center (CCC) of Tonasket last Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Since 2023, with a grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology (WSDE) GO h been doing the Repair Café. The object of the café is to get people to bring their fixable item for repair.
