Idaho chefs, restaurant and bar named 2026 James Beard Award semifinalists
The James Beard Foundation has announced its 2026 awards semifinalists, and Idaho is well-represented on the list. A bar, restaurant and three chefs from Boise are in the running for a James Beard Award, one of the nation’s most prestigious honors. The purpose of the awards is to recognize exceptional talent and achievement in the culinary arts, hospitality, media and the broader food system, according to the foundation. Bar, Please! is a semifinalist for Best New Bar, competing against 19 other nominees from across the country. It is Idaho’s first cocktail bar to receive a James Beard nomination. The “laid back neighborhood bar” opened in 2024 and gained a reputation for inventive cocktails, small plates and a casual vibe.
