There's a new person in Boise's highest-paying city job. What she's making
Boise’s new airport director, the city’s highest-paying position , won’t be raking in quite as much money as her predecessor. Mayor Lauren McLean selected Beth Sumner, the deputy director of engineering and planning, to replace former director Rebecca Hupp. Hupp earned $339,000 in the job, but Sumner will earn a little less: $325,000, airport spokesperson Jennifer Kronberg told the Idaho Statesman. “Beth has demonstrated an unmatched commitment to the growth of Boise’s Airport, leading important projects as we undergo an incredible expansion,” McLean said in a news release. “I look forward to her insights and leadership for years to come.” Sumner was previously one of six city employees whose salary topped $200,000 a year. Boise touted her experience in the release, saying Sumner worked as senior executive for installation operations on the military side of Boise’s airfield. She also served in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard for 26 years, according to the release. However, recent hires in nearby airports with fewer passengers offered higher wages for airport directors, according to previous Statesman reporting . Spokane offered $375,000 and Reno hired a new airport executive with a $400,000 base salary. Many airports are run either by local governments

‘So good'? Or ‘worst service' at Boise's food hall? Either way, this vendor closed
At its core level, the restaurant business is relentlessly challenging. But hurdles can loom even higher for a small brand trying to expand to a distant land — like Boise. That appears to have been the case for Just Chicken , which shuttered recently at The Warehouse Food Hall , 370 S. 8th St. The concept, which specialized in chicken tenders and sandwiches, debuted there just over a year ago. Warehouse Food Hall owner Geronimo Hospitality Group confirmed the closure in a prepared statement. Just Chicken continues to operate at the Geronimo-owned Garage Food Hall in Indianapolis. “Just Chicken has been a valued partner,” the company wrote, “and we’re fortunate to continue that relationship in other markets. We appreciate the opportunity to have worked with their team at The Warehouse and wish them continued success. We’re now working with a local food truck operator on plans to bring a new concept into the space and look forward to sharing more details as those plans come together.” The prospect of a new concept at The Warehouse is exciting for food enthusiasts. Even if the transition is disappointing for Just Chicken. Founded in 2022, Just Chicken is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. Launching
