James Raphael Boix of Riverhead died on April 24, 2024, at Acadia Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Riverhead. He was 91 years old. Born in Brooklyn on Oct. 8, 1932, he was the son of Joseph and Mabel Boix. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later worked as a machinist for Catalina Instrument Corp. in Plainview.

Riverhead Police are investigating an armed robbery of a Route 58 restaurant late Wednesday night. The manager of Shah’s Halal Food at 1707 Old Country Road called 911 to report being held up by a man brandishing a handgun who entered the store at about 10:30 p.m. and demanded money, police said in a press release Thursday evening.
