Three people are facing criminal charges after a sweep of retail establishments in an alcohol sales compliance check by the Riverhead Police Department COPE division, according to a press release issued this morning.
Riverhead Police Department’s COPE Division, in cooperation with the Riverhead Community Awareness Program, inspected 24 locations around the town last night. The operation aimed to the target the sale of alcohol to patrons under the age of 21.
Three establishments were found to be non-compliant, police said, with an employee from each location being charged with unlawfully dealing with a child in the first degree:
- Silvana Aquais-Salinas, an employee at Gala Fresh, 795 Old Country Road, Riverhead;
- Piyushkumar Patel, an employee at Riverhead Stationary, 407 East Main Street, Riverhead; and
- Mike Clark, an employee at Valero Gas Station, 5904 NY-25A, Wading River.
Each person was processed and given a desk appearance ticket for a future court date, according to the press release
Police said the following establishments were found to be in full compliance:
- Empire Gas, 640 Main Road, Aquebogue
- Deli Latino, 192 Old Country Road, Riverhead
- OK Petro Gas, 1212 East Main Street, Riverhead
- M&G Deli & Grocery, 999 East Main Street, Riverhead
- Village Grocery, 733 East Main Street, Riverhead
- Mobil Gas, 415 East Main Street, Riverhead
- Village Deli, 318 East Main Street, Riverhead
- Polish Town Deli, 432 Pulaski Street, Riverhead
- Oscars Deli, 421 Pulaski Street, Riverhead
- Riverhead Deli & Market, 161 Railroad Avenue, Riverhead
- Riverhead Café, 159 Railroad Avenue, Riverhead
- Frontera Deli & Grocery, 55 West Main Street, Riverhead
- KD Beer & Smoke, 121 West Main Street, Riverhead
- Shell Gas, 626 West Main Street, Riverhead
- Quick Stop Deli, 1172 West Main Street, Riverhead
- Bola Mobil Gas, 1575 Old Country Road, Riverhead
- One Stop Smoke Shop, 1696 Old Country Road, Riverhead
- Gulf Gas, 1878 Old Country Road, Riverhead
- Sunoco Gas, 4129 Middle Country Road, Calverton
- Speedway Gas, 6305 NY 25A, Wading River
- La Caya Deli & Grocery, 123 West Main Street, Riverhead
