GrCo school board okays bond counsel for solar project, also ups pay for non-teaching staff
The Greene County Community School District is moving forward with a solar energy project to curb electricity costs at the district’s three school building. Superintendent Brett Abbotts reported at the board’s May 8 meeting he has spoken with staff from Modus Engineering and OPN about the proposed solar energy project. He said the board will discuss hiring a project manager at the June meeting.
Timm is state bound in tennis
BOONE — South Tama’s Kaden Timm punched his ticket to the 2024 IHSAA Class 1A State Tennis Meet last Wednesday. Timm finished as singles runner-up at their district meet in Boone. With this performance Timm is one of 16 high school singles players to qualify for the state meet.
Central Iowa United girls down Perry
STATE CENTER — Colfax-Mingo sophomore Lilyan Hadsall’s hat trick led the Central Iowa United girls soccer team to a come-from-behind win over Perry on Thursday. Central Iowa United trailed the Lady Jays 2-0 at halftime but scored four times in the final 40 minutes during a 4-2 victory in Heart of Iowa Athletic Conference play.
Large job fair held for Tyson Foods workers facing plant closure
