RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The annual Swine and Brine returned to Ardent Craft Ales this weekend in an event filled to the brim with a variety of beer and delicious local food.

On Saturday, April 27, Ardent Craft Ales hosted the Swine and Brine event featuring food from local restaurants with a focus on oysters, pork dishes, desserts and beer.

Rappahannock Oyster Co., Yellow Umbrella, ZZQ, Eazzy Burger and Buttermilk Bake Shop were some of the restaurants featured at the event.

Ryan Kelly, marketing manager for Ardent Craft Ales, said the Swine and Brine event started in 2015, just a year after Ardent Craft Ales opened its doors in 2014.

“My favorite thing about Swine and Brine is it’s really a celebration of community,” Kelly said. “Food is sort of the excuse to get people together, but we love seeing the same vendors year after year, the same people year after year.”

The event offered a variety of food and drink options, with Ardent Craft Ales offering 15 beers on tap, as well as ciders from Potters and Blue Bee, and sparkling wine for those with different taste buds.

“So we just got a little something for everybody, and really try to show a breadth in a variety of beer styles that we’re brewing here at Ales,” Kelly said.

Richmond resident Chris Luersen attended the Swine and Brine event for the first time and said it had a great turnout.

“I really like it, it’s a good size crowd without it being too crowded,” Luersen said. “We got a lot of local stuff, so it’s really cool to see the turnout for everything.”
