Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -- Senator Tim Kaine reacted on Thursday to Winsome Earle-Sears' statements following the shooting outside a Huguenot High School graduation on Tuesday.

Sears made comments on the scene in the immediate aftermath of the shooting asserting that gun control was not a viable solution to such shootings. She said that gangs are the real problem and suggested the mayor and the Richmond Police Department are too lax on criminals, and that too many violent criminals are out on bond.

Kaine called her statements "out of place" in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy. Kaine said he believes guns must be part of the problem, saying America is the only nation among our allies where this continually happens, and that access to guns is the outlier. He also said, however, that more details need to come out before any real fixes can be determined.
