The city of Richmond gearing up to host recreation programs for all ages this summer. Here’s a look at a few of the activities being offered by the Richmond Recreation Department.

• Babysitting Beyond the Basics: A1 Health and Safety will teach the course, which is designed for youth ages 10 and older, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 20 at the Roosevelt Civic Auditorium, located at 68931 Main St. Students will learn babysitting tips, basic first aid, the Heimlich maneuver and pediatric CPR. A fee of $35 covers a workbook and a certificate of completion. Students must bring a bag lunch and pen.

• Children’s Entertainment Series: Free children’s entertainment will be offered in the park this summer. All shows will take place at 11 a.m. at the Beebe Street Park Pavilion. On June 22, ventriloquist Richard Paul will be featured. On July 27, entertainment will include fun in the park with a bubble show geared for all ages. On Aug. 24, Rufus the Dufus will provide circus-style variety entertainment. All ages are welcome.

• Free Movies in the Park: Free movies in Beebe Street Park will be offered once a month this summer. The first movie on June 24 will be “Family Camp.” The July 22 movie will be “Dog.” The Aug. 19 movie will be “Eight Below.” All movies will begin at dusk. Those who attend are advised to bring their own blankets and chairs.
