Richardson officials are looking to help residents recycle their waste.

Starting last week, the city began mailing its annual Blue Bag Letters to residents that can be redeemed for two free rolls of recycling bags for a total of 52 individual bags.

Without an expiration date, the letters can be redeemed at the Heights Recreation Center, the Huffhines Recreation Center and the Richardson Service Center at 1260 Columbia Drive. Typically, the bag rolls cost $6.50 for residents and $7 for nonresidents.

Residents are able to combine all recyclable material in the 30-gallon bags, which can be picked up during weekly waste removal services. In addition to receiving free bags through the mailed letters, the city is hosting recycling bag giveaways at the LA Fitness at 1451 E. Belt Line Road on March 27 and at 7th Day Coffee at 742 Brick Row, Ste. 350, on March 28.

Along with weekly pickups, Richardson provides a drop-off recycling center located at the Westside Pump Station at 101 N. Cottonwood Drive. The center is open from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. seven days a week.
