WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - It doesn’t matter if it’s the conga, salsa, or even waltz. We have new information about ways to improve health by just moving to the beat. Experts at Cleveland Clinic say that dancing can improve strength, mobility, and balance. For example, dance may require us to stand on one leg and reach. Another benefit is that you don’t actually feel like you’re working out the way you would at the gym. For many, dancing can also be a way to socialize with others and make you feel better, too.

WAUSAU-Andrea Larson, IRONBULL’s executive director, became the fastest person ever to complete the North Country National Scenic Trail (NCT) across the Badger State. Larson completed the 215 mile section of trail on foot in 75 hours, 5 minutes, starting Friday April 12 at 1:13 PM; finishing on Monday April 15 at 4:18 PM. She completed the feat unsupported, meaning she ran solo carrying all her gear and food with her for the entire route. Her pack started at eighteen pounds and gradually lightened to nine pounds. Larson filtered and chemically treated water from lakes and creeks along the trail. In total, she estimates she only slept about twenty-five minutes over the course of the journey.
Music concert offerings at all three UW-Stevens Point campuses in May
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will host a variety of music concerts on all three campuses in Stevens Point, Marshfield and Wausau this May. UW-Stevens Point concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Noel Fine Arts Center Michelsen Hall, 1800 Portage St., Stevens Point. Tickets are $17 for the general public, $15 for seniors (62+), $10 for youths (younger than 18) and UWSP employees. UW-Stevens Point students can attend free of charge. Events are ticketed unless noted otherwise. Tickets are available for purchase online, at the Information and Tickets desk in the Dreyfus University Center or by calling 715-346-4100.
WMOCA to host reception for Texas-based painter
WAUSAU – The Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art will host a reception for Austin, Texas-based painter Jennifer Balkan’s solo exhibition titled “Thoughts in Between.”.
