Five vs. Five tournament brought out area’s best
The first annual Five vs Five basketball tournament was a huge success. The event was a fundraiser for the Checotah basketball program and was sponsored by First Family Credit Union. Ten teams from across eastern Oklahoma took place. The teams consisted of the sports greats in high school and college basketball. The eight-men teams had players from 14 to 30 years old.
45th Duvall s Jackpot another success
Checotah hosted the 45th Duvall’s Jackpot this past weekend. The steer-wrestling event brought in competitors from across the nation and beyond. The Duvall family is royalty in the steer-wrestling world. Bill, Roy and Spud Duvall have cemented their place in the sport with numerous championships along with Ote Berry.

Luna has played a pivotal role in the Ironheads’ success on the gridiron. The 6’4”, 250-pound lineman has the skill set to play both sides of the football.
