Round Robin is a fun competition where the winners of each age division and species compete in their knowledge and skill in showing all species of livestock animals. The animals these young showmen had to exhibit in the show ring included beef, goats, pigs, sheep, dairy goats. For the rabbits, dairy cattle, turkeys and chickens it was a written portion for the benefit of the smaller animals.

“It was a well put-on show,” said 4-H dad Shorty Tom. “It was very organized and the staff was very helpful.”

To participate at this show all exhibitors were required to take classes and be current in their Quality Assurance tests prior to showing in their species.

Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) is a national, multi-species, science-based program for youth ages 8-21. YQCA was developed through a collaboration of livestock industry professionals and educators. The course was offered by Rocki Shaner, 4-H Livestock specialist at the Cooperative Extension office. The goal of this program is to help youth and their parents better understand what they can do to produce the safest food possible.

All exhibitors from the Moapa Valley area were able to sell safe food to consumers at the livestock sale.

Rylan Sproul’s Grand Champion Market Steer was bought by Bently Ranches in Minden, Nevada. Mason Zinovitch’s market hog was bought by a private buyer out of the Reno area. Alexis Zinovitch’s market hog was bought by Core Construction out of Reno, Nevada. Bently McCormick’s lamb was bought by American AgCredit.
