Senior Softball-USA visits Reno for 35th year straight

Senior softball hits the proves to be more than a hobby for some. Nearly 200 teams from across the country travel to Northern Nevada to play in the annual Rock N' Reno Challenge Cup. Among the competitors suiting up is retired ball player, John Crane.

Since eighteen-years-old, Crane spent a majority of his free time on the softball diamond.

"Softball is my life," Crane said. "I started playing softball when I was eighteen years old and quit playing when I was 76. My body just gave out on me. They got teams that are my age playing right now, but just can't physically do it anymore."

Although he may not be on the dirt, Crane gets to watch his two sons play.

"My parents are the biggest supporters," James Crane said. "They're both retired and It's hard because they come watch us play then go to Carson City to watch my brother. They go back and forth, but last year, we were on the same team so it made it easier for them. now, it's a little more difficult.
