The Reno Police Department (RPD) has released the footage of the police chase that occurred in Virginia City Highlands on May 9, 2023.
On the afternoon of May 9, at approximately 2:50 p.m., an RPD officer spotted and identified Tyler Woolley in a parked vehicle in the area of Mira Loma Park in Reno. Woolley had an active extraditable felony warrant for an arrest for prohibited person possession of a firearm issued from Carson City.
When the officers approached Woolley, he refused to comply and fled the scene which led to a pursuit.
According to RPD, Woolley drove recklessly which put the public ta risk by speeding, driving the wrong way, failing to stop at intersections and red lights. He also drove through a citizen's yard which caused property damage, he then continued to escape and went off-road to the hills just northeast of Hidden Valley.
Multiple agencies provided assistance including the Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) RAVEN unit and the Storey County Sheriff's Office. WCSO RAVEN then was able to locate Woolley traveling in the backroads towards Virginia City Highlands.
When he was located on Cartwright Road, an officer involved shooting occurred and which injured Woolley. He was then transported to the hospital where his injuries were treated.
This is an ongoing investigation under the Sparks Police Department.
Woolley is charged with felony eluding and outstanding warrant for the charges he was originally wanted for.
