Anyone woman wanting to learn how to protect themselves will have an opportunity to learn at "Women's Safety Sundays" at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at 1424 Marthan Road, Columbia. The free class, hosted by Richland County Councilwoman Gretchen D. Barron, is held quarterly. The class, taught by the Richland County Sheriff's Department, teaches women how to navigate dangerous situations and avoid possible physical assaults.
