E-bike rider thanks Rehoboth Cycle Sports

May 26, 2023

I recently had the unfortunate experience of being knocked off my e-bike by an SUV while underway east on Rehoboth Avenue just past Second Street. Fortunately, in the silver lining sense, I crashed onto the pavement right in front of the Rehoboth Cycle Sports shop. Now, as I mend here at home from an expanding count of aches and pains, I want to acknowledge the extraordinary kindness of the woman named Katie at that bike shop.

As I got up off the pavement and gathered my wits, she brought me a cup of water. While I was being examined by the EMTs and interviewed by the police, she and her mechanics put my bike back in good working order – no small feat as the handlebars, seat, saddlebags, fenders and chain were all twisted and akimbo. Finally, they tightened my brakes and test rode the bike before returning it ready to ride.

And then refused any payment.

Thank you, Katie, and your team at Rehoboth Cycle Sports. You set the gold standard for what community means, and why I love living and biking here. Hope to see you soon on the trails.
