The Mississippi Alumination volunteer group that traditionally puts on the annual 4th of July fireworks show in Red Wing has announced it will NOT be doing that this year.
According to the group, the main reason being lack of volunteers and funding.
City Council Administrator Kay Kuhmann says there is still a chance that someone else will assist putting the fireworks on. She says the City would help any group that might take the fireworks over like they have in the past, but the City does not feel they should be in charge.
Kulmann says the best option is delaying the fireworks celebration until late summer, perhaps during River City Days.
This years River City Days takes place August 4th, 5th, and 6th.
