A lightning strike may have caused a difficult and fast moving house fire in Red Lodge.
Northwestern Energy is still investigating.
Emergency officials say the homeowners and two cats made it out safely last Wednesday night. The homeowners noticed their power went out, then they smelled smoke.
When firefighters got there smoke was pouring out of the house and the fire was moving fast. Then the kitchen floor and all the kitchen appliances collapsed down into the crawl space, making the fire extremely difficult to fight.
That's where they think the fire started. No one was injured in the fire.
Twenty-two firefighters from Red Lodge and Roberts were on scene more than three hours with three fire engines, three water tenders, two rescue trucks, four command vehicles, and an ambulance.
