School threats in Red Bank and Dade County

One student charged, the other threat was deemed not credible

RED BANK, Tennessee (WDEF) – A day after the school shooting in Nashville, local investigators have looked into separate incidents in our own schools.

A school resource deputy was alerted to a threat at Red Bank Middle School Tuesday morning.

School administrators informed the officer of a possible threat made by a student.

A release from the Sheriff’s Office says the SRD got probable cause to charge a juvenile suspect on a misdemeanor charge of making a threat of violence on school property.

In Dade County, Georgia, authorities also were notified of a school threat on Tuesday.

The Principal at Dade County Middle said the threat was that a student was going to bring a gun to school on Friday.

The Sheriff, along with deputies, went to the school.

After talking to witnesses, they determined that it was not a credible threat.

“Sheriff Cross wants everyone to know that he and his deputies treat every incident like this very seriously, and the safety of the children and staff at Dade Schools is paramount to the Sheriff’s Office and the Dade County School System.”
