Boys Lacrosse: Non-Public, Group B Tournament first round recaps for May 30

Sam Fertal recorded five goals and one assist to lead fifth-seeded Red Bank Catholic past 12th-seeded Union Catholic 17-2 in the first round of the Non-Public, Group B Tournament in Red Bank.

Red Bank Catholic (11-7) took control early leading 12-0 at halftime before adding five more goals in the second half. Gianvito Viola also scored four goals while Christian Schrader gave up two goals on eight shots.

Red Bank Catholic will face fourth-seeded Immaculata in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Union Catholic fell to 10-8.

Montclair Kimberley 19, Dwight-Englewood 7

Henry McCann recorded five goals and two assists to lead seventh-seeded Montclair Kimberley past 10th-seeded Dwight-Englewood 19-7 in the first round of the Non-Public, Group B Tournament in Montclair.

Nick Snyder also had five goals and two assists for Montclair Kimberley (5-12) while Charlie Wolff scored four times.

Montclair Kimberley will face second-seeded Rutgers Prep in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Dwight-Englewood fell to 9-6.

Immaculata 16, Eastern Christian 5

Despite three goals and an assist from 13th-seeded Eastern Christian’s Michael Cook, fourth-seeded Immaculata came away with a 16-5 victory in the first round of the Non-Public, Group B Tournament in North Haledon.

Immaculata (10-8) sported an 8-1 lead at halftime before outscoring Eastern Christian 8-4 in the second half. Caleb Chae and Josh Alvarez also had a goal and an assist for Eastern Christian.

Immaculata will face fifth-seeded Red Bank Catholic in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Holy Spirit 21, Morris Catholic 4

Despite a pair of goals from 11th-seeded Morris Catholic’s Ryan Lazzara, sixth-seeded Holy Spirit came away with a 21-4 victory in the first round of the Non-Public, Group B Tournament in Absecon.

Brogan Wooley, Jacob Leroy, and Nikolas Rubino also scored for Morris Catholic (7-7) while Peter Pallozzi scooped up 11 ground balls.

Holy Spirit improved to 8-8 and will face third-seeded Princeton Day in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Bishop Eustace 11, Morristown-Beard 5

Eighth-seeded Bishop Eustace defeated ninth-seeded Morristown-Beard 11-5 in the first round of the Non-Public, Group B Tournament in Pennsauken.

Bishop Eustace improved to 12-5 while Morristown-Beard fell to 2-16.

Bishop Eustace will face top-seeded Gill St. Bernard’s in the quarterfinals on Friday.
