A man accused of killing an 8-year-old girl from Airway Heights pleaded guilty on Sept. 29. Court documents say that the girl was malnourished and tied up. The man will testify against his partner, who helped him as part of his deal.

Airway Heights man takes plea deal in child death case
SPOKANE, Wash. — The Airway Heights suspect charged in the December 2022 death of his eight-year-old adopted daughter changed his plea to guilty Friday morning. Aleksander Kurmoyarov entered a plea agreement with the state. The agreement requires his full cooperation and testimony on the case. It also amended his charges to second degree murder, second degree assault, and three counts of unlawful imprisonment. He pleaded guilty to all five counts.
Fatal Gray Fire Near Medical Lake Triggers 2 Lawsuits
A massive fire that burned 17 square miles of land west of Spokane near Medical Lake has now brought about 2 lawsuits. Fire which began August 18th burned 326 buildings. The fire consumed 240 homes and 86 other types of structures before being contained, and two lawsuits point at a power company.
