Reading Police investigate early morning shooting incident at 11th & Cotton Streets

In the early hours of Wednesday, October 18th, 2023, the Reading Police Department responded to a reported shooting incident at a corner store located at 11th and Cotton Streets. At approximately 1:07 AM, officers were dispatched to the scene in response to a male victim who reported being struck by gunfire while driving south on the 400 block of South 10th Street.

According to police, responding to the scene, officers found the victim’s vehicle, which had sustained damage from gunfire. Additionally, casings were discovered in the vicinity of the incident, indicating that shots had been fired in the area.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld at this time, informed officers that he believes the gunfire originated from an alleyway near 498 South 10th Street.

The investigation into this incident is currently ongoing, and the Reading Police Department is actively working to gather more information and leads.
