Barnhill Road bridge in Midvale closed after accident
The Barnhill Road bridge over U.S. Route 250 in Midvale is closed to all traffic due to structural damage, according to a release from the Ohio Department of Transportation. All lanes of U.S. Route 250 will remain open, as will the ramps to/from U.S. Route 250 at the interchange, though drivers cannot cross the bridge. A vehicle hauling heavy machinery struck the bridge several weeks ago, resulting in damage to several beams and reducing traffic to one lane with temporary signals. Following regular monitoring and inspections, ODOT inspectors discovered significant cracking on one of the damaged bridge beams, prompting the immediate full closure on Oct. 13 out of an abundance of caution.
